Miami Beach Pride Returns in September

The year 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic took a lot away from all of us. For the LGBTQ+ community of Miami and all of their supporters, Pride was one of the beloved events that had to be foregone for the sake of public safety.

Lucky for all of us, though, Pride is back this fall! Let’s look at some essentials of attending Miami Beach Pride, including what to expect and how to get around.

What Is Miami Beach Pride?

Pride 2021 is a nine-day celebration of queer identity and love held from September 10 through September 19. Two stages host world-class performers and DJs who come to stand in solidarity, and the parade is known worldwide. There are events held daily and nightly, including a gala and hundreds of vendors.

Obviously, Pride began as and is still primarily for the LGBTQ+ community, but allies and supporters are welcome to attend as well. Pride is for anyone who believes that love is love and that everyone owns their individual identity.

What to Expect at Miami Beach Pride

Miami Beach Pride is an experience unlike any other! It’s important to know what to expect in order to get the most out of your time. Here are some of the essential things to know:

  • It will be very crowded; embrace it! Lots of Pride patrons say that the crowd is energizing. Still, we know it might be a bit of a shock after all this time spent in quarantine.
  • Be ready to wait for restaurants, a bottle of water at a gas station, the bathroom, and everything else. Many people will be descending in the area, which will stretch its resources. Be prepared and find ways to keep yourself entertained.
  • Have an open mind, of course. This event is a chance for everyone to show off the beauty of their unique identity.
  • You can’t do and see everything. Even if you spent the entire nine days in South Beach, you still wouldn’t be able to visit all the vendors, see all the shows, and experience everything. Browse the website before you come and pick your must-dos.

How Will You Get Around?

One of the reasons that Miami Beach Pride had to be canceled for two years during the pandemic is because it is a very crowded event. That means that you have to think and plan ahead about accessing the things you need, including transportation.

Given that streets are so crowded and several are closed by the city, a scooter rental from Scooter Style is the perfect solution. You’ll be able to zip through the throngs of revelers and quickly get to all of the fabulous events. And, you can snag all the tight parking spots where cars can’t fit.

Be sure to reserve your scooter early, as inventory is limited, especially during Pride. If you’re planning multiple trips to Miami, don’t miss some of the other returning events like the Miami Marathon and Half Marathon, Carnaval, and Food Network and Cooking Channel South Beach Wine and Food Festival.
