Why Choose A Scooter Rental In Miami Beach For Your Next Vacation

Ready to get away this spring? The best way to see and be seen is from the back of a scooter rental in Miami Beach! If you’ve never rented a scooter to get around a new town, here’s why it rocks.

A Feast For The Senses

Miami Beach is beautiful no matter what, but when experienced zipping through traffic with your hair whipping in the wind, it’s an unforgettable experience. The wide open blue skies, swaying palm trees, soaring art deco architecture, and expansive turquoise ocean always look better when viewed from the back of a scooter! While you’re out and about, don’t miss snapping a pic at some of South Beach’s most Instagrammable spots.

In addition to the sights, the open air experience allows you to enjoy all the tantalizing smells Miami Beach has to offer. From the salty tang of the ocean and fruity tropical scents of suntan lotion, to the savory aromas of authentic Cuban cuisine wafting through the air – it’s a feast for the senses!

Stress-Free Parking

The reality is, traffic and parking in Miami Beach can sometimes be a nightmare. But not with a scooter rental! While it’s essential to follow all safety and traffic laws of the road, a scooter is smaller and can more easily get in and out of traffic.

It also makes parking a breeze. Like anywhere, you’re going to see parking lots and garages with cars double parked, parked over the line, or two cars so close to the line that another car simply won’t fit – but a scooter will fit! These reject spots for cars are primo spots for scooters.

Affordable & Fun

Finally, a scooter rental in Miami Beach is affordable and FUN! Depending on the type of scooter rental you choose, a rental can cost less than a hundred dollars a day. While a car rental may be comparable in price, there’s zero comparison when it comes to the fun, open-air experience that a scooter rental provides.

Looking for fun things to do in Miami Beach? If you want to have fun while practicing safe social distancing, check out this list. If outdoor dining is a must-do, don’t miss these hot spots for patio dining. And if you’re ready to park your scooter for the day and escape the hustle and bustle of the city, check out these South Florida excursions, all clocking in at under 2 hours away!

How To Stay Safe On Your South Beach Scooter Rental

A South Beach scooter rental can be loads of fun, but it’s important to take a few extra precautions to stay safe while cruising in style. Whether it’s your first time on a scooter rental, or you’re a seasoned pro, here are some tips for staying safe.

#1 Take A Scooter Tutorial

If you’ve never ridden a scooter, or if you’re upgrading to a new model you’re unfamiliar with, an onsite scooter tutorial is a great place to start before you hit the road. We will walk you through everything and show you how to balance, steer, brake, and properly use safety features like turn signals. We’ll show you how to gas up, how to access the storage compartments, and how to use the steering lock to secure the scooter when parking. You’ll leave feeling confident, relaxed, and ready for fun!

#2 Use Safety Gear

Under Florida law, motorcyclists 21 and over who carry at least $10,000 in medical insurance liability coverage are not required to wear a helmet. All riders under 16 must wear a helmet. However, we strongly encourage ALL riders to wear a helmet for safety.

In addition to helmets, sunglasses or goggles can protect your eyes from wind (and bugs!), and closed-toe shoes are recommended.

Finally, it’s always a good idea to wear brightly colored clothes on a scooter so that other drivers can see you better.

#3 – Follow All Traffic Laws

Scooters must follow all the same traffic laws as vehicles. This means coming to a full stop at stop signs and red lights. It also means only driving in designated lanes – while it may be tempting to get around traffic faster, it is illegal to ride between cars or on the road shoulder.

Always go the posted speed limit, use your turn signal, and keep front lights on for improved visibility.

#4 – Secure The Scooter When Parking

Always park in a well-lit, high-traffic area within a legal parking spot (yes, you can get a parking ticket on a scooter!). Never leave valuables in the storage compartment, even if locked, and always engage the steering lock if your scooter is equipped with one (we’ll show you how in your onsite tutorial!).

#5 – Don’t Get Distracted

Texting and driving is illegal in Florida. Just as with cars, if you want to slow down and do some sight-seeing, snap a selfie, or send a text, find a place to safely pull over and put your scooter in park.

#6 – Don’t Drink And Drive

Just don’t do it. If you find yourself out and you’ve had a few drinks, call an Uber or a Lyft to get back to your hotel. Then call Scooter Style at 305-904-8085 and we will pick up the scooter from the bar or restaurant where you were. Safety first!

4 Reasons December Is A Great Time To Visit Miami

October through December is called the “shoulder season” in Miami because it’s in between the lull of the summer and the peak winter season. Most seasonal residents return in January after the holidays and the beaches are packed with tourists escaping the cold up north. Before this busy season is actually one of the best times to visit Miami. Here’s why!

#1 – Fewer Crowds

December is a busy month for most people, but it’s usually due to spending time with family and friends for the holidays. Miami tends to see fewer crowds in December, so you can find a peaceful spot on the beach, snag an easy reservation for dinner, and enjoy cruising down Ocean Drive with little traffic. Parking spots are easy to find, and you can hit all the Insta-worthy photo spots without the crowds!

#2 – Cooler Weather

December in Miami is generally a perfect 75 degrees with very little rain and ocean temps around 72. For locals, it’s really the best time of year to be outdoors and enjoying watersports, paddleboarding, kayaking, and other open-air activities

#3 – More Affordable

While summer is the most affordable time to visit Miami, there are still some really great deals in the shoulder season. Often, better deals can be found by contacting hotels directly versus using travel booking sites. VRBO and Air BNB rentals may also be cheaper and have better availability in December. The Greater Miami  Beaches Visitor & Convention Bureau also features exclusive special offers on hotels and resorts right on their website, MiamiShines. For dining, look for restaurants offering off-season specials and prix fixe menus to get the most bang for your buck while trying a variety of Miami fare.

#4 – Holiday Happenings

While this year definitely looks a little different when it comes to events, there are still plenty of holiday happenings in Miami in December. From drive-thru light displays to lights in the gardens and zoo, check out this big list of festive activities from TimeOut to find something fun to do.

Current Local Information

As of December 3, 2020, there are currently no travel restrictions in Miami. Beaches are open, although there are certain restrictions to help avoid the spread of the virus. Hotels are open and taking reservations, and it is recommended that you call hotels directly to learn more about any specific restrictions and book your stay. Hotel concierges are also an excellent resource for knowing what’s open and giving you insider tips for savings and making recommendations for activities. Restaurants are also open and offering indoor and outdoor seating so long as they can maintain 6′ distance between parties. Remember, the weather is simply gorgeous in Miami in December, so outdoor dining is enjoyable and comfortable, and can help keep you safe while traveling!

The Best Way To Enjoy Miami In December Is From The Back Of A Scooter!

Did we mention the weather is perfect in Miami in December? There couldn’t be a better time to rent a scooter in Miami Beach and take in everything the city has to offer in open-air style! With two convenient locations on the beach, Scooter Style makes scooter rentals in South Beach a breeze. Reserve your scooter online today or contact us to learn more.

Escape The Hustle & Bustle With These 4 South Florida Excursions

While there’s plenty to do and see right on Miami Beach, if you want to take a break from the back of your scooter and escape the hustle and bustle of the city, check out one of the 4 day trips to experience a quieter side of Florida.

Everglades

Everglades National Park was established in 1947 to restore the delicate wetlands ecosystem that was being destroyed by settlers for farmland in the early 1900s. The park now encompasses 1.5 million acres of pristine preserved wilderness and is home to countless native Florida wildlife. There are many ways to explore the Everglades, including boardwalks, hiking trails, and canoeing, but the most exhilarating way by far is from the front of an airboat.

From Miami, there are several tour companies that offer Everglades excursions, and many even include transportation. Depending on where you go within the park, expect about 1-1.5 hours to travel from Miami Beach.

John Pennekamp

If snorkeling or scuba diving is on your agenda, rent a car and hit the Overseas Highway to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park in Key Largo. At just under 1.5 hours from South Beach, the easy drive down US-1 is well worth it for the destination. John Pennekamp is the first underwater state park in the United States, spanning about 70 nautical square miles. The park boasts natural coral reef, an abundance of marine wildlife, remnants of a Spanish shipwreck, and a 9′ tall bronze statue of The Christ of the Abyss which was placed underwater in 1965. Visitors can swim off a white sand beach, rent kayaks, canoes or paddleboards, charter a fishing boat, view the reef from a glass-bottom boat, and of course, snorkel or scuba.

Naples Sunset Cruise

Sure, you can see a decent sunset from the water in Miami, but for an unforgettable sunset cruise, make the easy 1.5 hour drive across Alligator Alley to Florida’s ultimate west coast destination: Naples. Make a day of it and explore Naples’ prestigious 5th Avenue South and soak in the sun as you sink your toes into the powder-white sand that west coast beaches are known for. Then, make your way down to Naples City Dock for an early dinner at The Dock ahead of sunset. While there are many tour companies that offer sunset cruises, you don’t want to miss the Sweet Liberty, a 53′ sailing catamaran that has been offering sunset cruises in the Gulf of Mexico for more than 25 years.

Fishing Charter

To really escape the hustle and bustle, spring for a private charter boat and your very own captain and head out to the open waters for a day of deepsea fishing. Miami’s offshore waters feature an abundance of fish any time of year, but winter is the prime season for sailfish sport fishing as well as kingfish, dolphin, tuna, and wahoo. Check out Trip Advisor’s top 10 list of deep-sea fishing charters to start planning your adventure.

When You’re Done Adventuring, Your Scooter Will Be Waiting!

It’s always fun to get off the beach and see what else Florida has to offer. But when you’re done exploring, Scooter Rental will be here waiting to get you back on your scooter! Reserve your scooter online today or contact us to learn more.

Meet Our New Golf Cart Rentals In South Beach

While scooters will never go out of style, golf cart rentals in South Beach are the hottest new way to get around — especially for larger groups or families. Before you judge, know that these are NOT the same golf carts you’ll be teeing off in tomorrow. These golf carts are street legal, gas-powered, and downright cool to drive around in!

Check out our new golf cart rentals in South Beach and decide which is right for you.

EZ Go L6

This is our only golf cart that looks like a golf cart, but with rugged tires and a higher clearance, it’s still way more stylish than any course’s standard fleet. More importantly, the EZ Go is super comfy and roomy. We have two different sizes that accommodate 4-6 adults. The EZ Go has plenty of storage under the seats for your shopping finds, and is fully equipped with safety features, including seatbelts, headlights, turn signals, and mirrors. A roof and fold down windshield provide some protection from rain. The EZ Go L6 is perfect for families, larger travel parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthdays, and sight-seeing and tour groups.

Reserve your EZ Go L6 now.

Hummer H3

The Hummer H3 is definitely not your grandpa’s golf cart! Proportionally designed to look like a mini Hummer H3, this golf cart exudes luxury and style. The seats are more akin to real SUV seats than golf cart seats, and the H3 boasts the most legroom of any of our golf carts. It’s the perfect vehicle for taller passengers or for longer trips when comfort is a priority. Like all our street legal golf carts, the H3 comes with headlights, turn signals, seat belts, mirrors, and everything else you need to stay safe while cruising the beach. The Hummer H3 seats four adults, but some adults may not find the smaller backseat as comfortable as the EZ Go. The H3 is perfect for couples, friends, smaller parties, and families with older children that can ride independently in the back.

Reserve your Hummer H3 now

Prime Golf Cart

Our Prime Golf Cart is designed to look like a mini version of a classic California Roadster, and it is oh so cool to drive! This is the golf cart you want to rent when you want to see and be seen. You could cruise up and down Ocean Drive for hours taking in the beautiful people and sights in this open-air classic car golf cart. While it does come with all the standard safety features of our other carts, it’s not as roomy or comfortable as the EZ Go or H3. It seats four adults, making it the perfect ride for couples or friends, or a girls night out when you want to arrive at the club in style!

Where Can I Go With My Golf Cart Rental In Miami Beach?

Golf cart rentals in Miami Beach are a great way to see all the city has to offer while cruising around in style. Because parking can be scarce, car rentals are a hassle. And if you have more than two people in your travel party or want to take in some shopping, a golf cart is more practical than a scooter rental.

But people often want to know where they can go in our golf cart rentals in Miami Beach.

Our Golf Carts Are Street Legal

These are not your grandpa’s retirement neighborhood golf carts! All of our golf carts have been lifted and made street legal. They’re gas powered, not electric, so they have some zip and you don’t have to worry about charging them. Our golf carts are equipped with safety features, including headlights, turn signals, and seat belts, allowing you to cruise safely right along with vehicle traffic on the road.

You Must Follow All Traffic Laws

Just like cars and scooters, golf cart rentals in Miami Beach must follow all the same traffic laws on the road. This means using your turn signal, coming to complete stops, not driving in bike lanes, and only parking in designated spots. You can get pulled over and get a ticket in your golf cart.

You Can Go Anywhere In Miami Beach

Our golf cart rentals can go on any road where the posted speed limit is 30mph or less. That’s pretty much all of Miami Beach! Golf carts cannot be taken over the causeways to downtown Miami on the mainland.

Most visitors who rent golf carts spend their time cruising up and down Ocean Drive, Washington Ave., and Collins Ave./A1A. There is no shortage of sight-seeing, eating, shopping, and playing along these main strips.

If you rent a golf cart from our Scooter Style location on Collins Ave just north of the Ritz Carlton, we recommend heading south and checking out a few of these spots:

  • Front Porch Cafe – Great spot for brunch and people watching, right on Ocean Drive
  • Sugar Factory – Massive candy store and restaurant. Can’t-miss spot if you have kids in tow!
  • Lummus Park – Beachfront park with plenty of green space, sandy beaches, and loads of recreational opportunities
  • Art Deco District – Directly across from Lummus Park all along Ocean Drive are some of the best examples of Miami’s art deco architecture and design
  • Big Pink – Iconic SouthBeach restaurant where everything is, you guessed it, pink!
  • South Pointe Park – Park, beach, and pier at the southernmost tip of South Beach. Perfect for sunsets!

Everything You Need To Know About ScootCoupe Rentals In Miami Beach

Have you seen a ScootCoupe scooting around town lately? These zippy little three-wheel vehicles are all the rage since being featured on a few major network television shows. With side-by-side seating, trunk storage, safety features, and a more "car-like" driving experience than a traditional scooter, the ScootCoupe is the perfect rental for couples wanting to explore South Beach in open-air style!

Best of all, Scooter Style is the ONLY place you can rent these beauties on the beach!

Here’s everything you need to know about ScootCoupe rentals in Miami Beach

It’s Technically A Moped

The P50 ScootCoupe model that Scooter Style rents has a 49cc engine and a top speed of 30MPH. It’s perfect for cruising around the beach and taking in the sights at a leisurely pace.

It Has Basic Licensing Requirements

Because it is 49cc, any person 18+ with a valid drivers license can rent a ScootCoupe. Just bring a major credit card, sign a rental agreement, and get a quick safety course.

It’s Street Legal

And you must follow the laws. ScootCoupes and other 49cc scooter rentals are able to go on any road where the speed limit is 30mph or less. Like any scooter, moped, or motorcycle, you must obey all traffic laws, just like cars. This means you can’t drive in the bike lane, cross double yellow lines to pass standstill traffic, or roll through stop signs. The Miami Beach Police Department does not hesitate to issue citations to scooter riders (even if you are in an adorable ScootCoupe!).

It’s More Stable Than A Scooter

For drivers who are uncomfortable on a scooter, especially with another passenger, the ScootCoupe is a far more stable alternative. The three wheels give it a more car-like driving experience, and the side-by-side seating lets passengers chat and interact easier than on a scooter.

It Has A Trunk

It isn’t huge, but it’s the perfect size to stash your shopping finds until you get back to your hotel. Just be sure to lock up if you stop and leave your ScootCoupe unattended!

It Has Seatbelts

And roll bars! If safety is a concern, the ScootCoupe is fully-equipped to keep you and your passenger safe. It also has anti-lock brakes and high-visibility taillights and brake lights.

Did We Mention It’s Cute?

If Herbie the Love Bug and a beach buggy had a baby, it would probably look a lot like a ScootCoupe. The bubbly design, bright colors, and exciting open-air experience make this an all-around FUN way to get around South Beach!

Book Your ScootCoupe Rental In Miami Today

Scooter Style is the only spot where you can currently rent a ScootCoupe. Give us a call today at 305-904-8085 to reserve yours! We have two convenient locations in Miami Beach at 1676 Collins Avenue, and 233 11th Street. Or, we’ll deliver your ScootCoupe to your hotel or vacation rental – whatever’s most convenient for you!

5 Outdoor Miami Attractions Where You Can Social Distance

As Miami begins to reopen post-coronavirus quarantine, tourists are returning to the city and looking for ways to have fun while still social distancing. One way to do that is to hop on your scooter rental and check out some of the many outdoor attractions that Miami has to offer!

If you’re planning a trip to Miami soon, be sure to add these spots to your itinerary.

#1 – Wynwood Walls

A massive collection of graffiti and street art commissioned by the late city revitalizer, Tony Goldman, Wynwood Walls is a free, open-air, walking art exhibit. Located in the warehouse district of Wynwood, more than 50 artists from 16 countries used blank warehouse walls as their canvas to create more than 80,000 square feet of art. The walls are open daily and free to visit. Note: the safest way to get to downtown Miami (the mainland) from South Beach is via the Venetian Causeway, as the lower speed limit accommodates 50cc scooter rentals.

#2 – Art Deco Walking Tour

A trip to Miami isn’t complete without taking in some of the city’s iconic art deco architecture. While you can certainly cruise around the district on your own, the Miami Design & Preservation League also offers scheduled guided walking tours with a tour guide. The slower pace gives you more time to take in the beautiful sights, while the tour guide tells the history behind the buildings and the art deco movement.

#3 – Boat Tours

If you’re ready for a different perspective of the city, park your scooter and check out one of the many Miami water tour operators. You can choose from different packages, with some tours taking you past the exclusive mansions of Star Island, while others take you through Biscayne Bay for stunning views of the city skyline. There are even Everglades boat tours, complete with a luxury bus ride out to the Glades. The company has reopened, but advance reservations are required as they are keeping groups small in order to social distance.

#4 – Lummus Park

An urban park with beach access, Lummus Park is located off Ocean Drive, in the heart of the Art Deco District and across from the iconic Clevelander hotel and bar. The park features trails for walking, biking, or rollerblading, as well as exercise equipment, volleyball courts, playgrounds, and of course, sand and surf! It’s a great spot to take a picnic, grab a seat under a palm tree, and enjoy some people-watching.

#5 – Water Sports

Rent a kayak and paddle into the mangroves, or test your balance on a paddleboard as you cruise through the channels of Sunset Islands. This operator even offers a sunset paddleboard tour complete with neon boards that glow and light up the water beneath you. For a little more adventure, consider chartering a private yacht or party boat, going on a deep-sea fishing excursion, parasailing over the city, renting a jetski, jetpack, or flyboard, or heading under the waves on a diving or snorkeling trip.
